New Sign-Up Schedule: There are no sign-ups available on-line or by mail before MCS. All sign-ups take place in the Dining Hall at Winona during the weekend. The times have changed this year to make sign-ups more available to everyone, early and late arrivals alike. Sign-Ups will be put out in the Dining Hall at the following times:
There are two types of workshops given at the Maine Canoe Symposium, on-land workshops and on-water workshops.
All workshops run 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. There are two workshops sessions Saturday morning, two on Saturday afternoon, and two more on Sunday morning. Also, there are sometimes early morning workshops that begin at 6:30 a.m. Each session usually features eight to twelve different workshops on various topics. There are always interesting things to do and learn.
On-Land Workshops
are presented at various locations on the
grounds and in the buildings of Camp Winona. They usually have no
limits on the number of attendees and therefore no sign-ups are
required. On-Land Workshops comprise approximately 60% of the total
number of workshops presented, so there are always activities
available for everyone to participate in.

On-Water Workshops usually involve being in canoes and taking lessons on the water. These workshops have limited room and sign up is required. Most lessons are limited to between 4-8 participants per session, the number allowed varies with what is being taught and the number of canoes, PFDs, and paddles available. On-Water Workshops comprise approximately 40% of the total number of workshops presented, this guarantees participants that there will be a low instructor to participant ratio. Everyone will get a lot of personal attention because of the limits imposed.
